Here at Pilates Technique Certification, we are finally able to take a moment and reflect on the busy months of Lectures that we have had. In February, the PTC5 group had their Level 4 Lecture, which is always a lot of fun. The exercises get much more difficult, and the students learn about how to teach clients affected by many different types of injuries. They also learned about Pregnancy and Pilates. The PTC5 group then had their 3rd Anatomy Lecture.
We then had a much more intense Workshop on Pregnancy and Pilates opened to certified Instructors. The students learned about the different myths that are out there regarding Pregnancy and exercise, learned movements and modifications for the different trimesters of Pregnancy and how and when to start Pilates after the client delivers. It was a very interesting workshop, alleviating many of the questions the teachers had about Pregnancy and exercise.
Then, our newest group of Trainees for Pilates Technique Certification had their Orientation as well as their first Level Lecture.
The trainees were delighted with the Lecture and excited to begin their Practice Teach and Self-workout hours. Most of the students, even those with extensive experience, found it very interesting and challenging to be on the other side of the session. Teaching, is very different than just taking a session. You could see the pride in their faces when they were able to put right words in the right order to explain how to do an exercise. The PTC6 is off and running!
Then the PTC5 group passes their Level 4 Tests. There instruction was so good, we were able to really just talk about the very details of their teaching. It's so great to see the confidence that has been built. I know these teachers will be a great asset to any studio. Most of the PTC5 students are teaching apprentice clients at the various Pilates Studios in Los Angeles and are really enjoying receiving pay for teaching! The are finding the job of teaching Pilates very rewarding.
Our newest group, PTC6, then had their first Anatomy Lecture. An exciting time to learn what bones and basic muscles are in the body.
We ended March with the Level 5 Lecture for PTC5. This is one of my favorite Lectures. And we reminded ourselves that this was the 25th time we taught this lecture, and it is still so exciting. The students have so much fun learning the difficult exercises of Level 5. The got to do Handstands, Back Walkovers, and even Adult Gymnastics. Most students are always so surprised that they are able to do these movements. There was a lot of clapping and smiles through out this lecture, even more than normal. And with the smiles, some were a bit melancholy as this was their last Pilates Lecture before their certification is complete. One Trainee summed it up well, "I feel like I just started and have been having so much fun, I don't want it to end. I got a little weepy last night thinking about how this was the last lecture". To which I always say, come back for more Workshops!
We are so proud of all of our trainees here at Pilates Technique Certification. They are all doing a really great job!
